One Year Ago

She’s walking there alone, no one by her side
She manages to fight the tears but the pain she can’t hide.
She closes her eyes and she’s thinking of you,
The dreams she had have gone, were they ever true?

And she wishes today was one year ago,
When you cared so much for her, before you dealt the blow
Before the pain and the hurt became too much to bear
Before her world fell apart, before she forgot how to care

She’s lying there alone, no one in her bed
Trying to sleep, too many thoughts in her head
All the ‘I love you’s’ whispered not said
A love so alive and all but too soon dead

And she wishes today was one year ago,
When you cared so much for her, before you dealt the blow.
Before the pain and the hurt became too much to bear,
Before her world fell apart, before she forgot how to care.

Unrequited love is the hardest of all,
You spend so much time waiting for the fall.
And when it’s all over and you’re left with the pain,
You know in your heart nothing will ever be the same.
